His mother’s neck falls into the shot and a fat pink tongue laps at the length of his body, momentarily knocking him over. Tickled by this, Littlefoot sticks out his own tiny tongue and licks zealously at his mother’s face. Tiny lizard-like creatures scatter out to meet him, whiffing the air and crowding around to see the newborn. Creatures of all size, shape, and variety creep out of the woodwork to watch the anxious little one open his eyes to the world. Like a wobbly deer calf, Littlefoot scurries away to cower behind his mother’s towering foot.
